Echoes of Time – Short-listed for The Diamond

Diamond Book Awards Finalists for 2017.

Well folks, the time has arrived for the announcement of the three finalists nominated for the Diamond Book Awards 2017… Please join me as I congratulate our finalists! Please feel free to support them by checking their works out on Amazon, up-voting their reviews, and if you haven’t already, buy their books… You’ll be glad you did.

It was a very tough decision as all the books entered for the competition this year were brilliantly penned and made excellent memorable reads. However, after many Mm’s & Ah’s along with scrutinizing my reviews, I finally made my decision by choosing the books which seemed to stand out that little bit more.

Of the three books nominated, I would be very hard put to decide which should receive the Diamond Book Award this year. For this reason, as well as to avoid bias,  I have a panel of at least three people (including myself) who differ widely in their favour of genre and approach to vote on the three books after careful deliberation.

Anyway, so I don’t bore you to death with too much about me and DBA detail, here are the three finalists (in no particular order) who have been nominated!

You don’t wake up expecting to die.

Katie is thirty-two, single, and works in advertising. She’s also dead. A lost soul hitching rides with the dying, trying to find her way to… wherever she’s supposed to be.

And whoever she’s supposed to be with.

Heaven, it seems, has a thousand rooms. What will it take to find hers?

My Review on Amazon

Helen Jones was born in the UK, then lived in both Canada and Australia before returning to England several years ago. She has worked as a freelance writer for the past ten years, runs her own blog and has contributed guest posts to others, including the Bloomsbury Writers & Artists site.

The epic journey of Catherine Merit Matthews continues in N. E. Brown’s fifth book of her Galveston, 1900, Indignities series. Twenty-six year old Catherine Merit Matthews is beautiful, confident, newly married, and mother to four children. Although life appears to be perfect, old memories and scars from the past continue to haunt her. Her new husband, Trent Matthews, knows she is hiding shocking secrets from her past, and is greatly concerned now that she is pregnant with their first biological child.
Coping with the everyday struggles of life in the early 1900’s is not easy, especially since Trent’s job as an oil scout causes him to travel often gone weeks at a time. Catherine, the only doctor in the small town of Rosenberg, hires a French couple to assist in caring for her family. But all is not as it should be.
Without warning, two trusted friends turn their backs on Catherine’s family and even her husband cannot protect her from these unscrupulous people. Three months after their son is born, a tragedy surfaces when he is taken during the night while she and Trent are celebrating their first wedding anniversary in Galveston. As Trent joins forces with the Texas Rangers in the pursuit of their son, it cracks open a vast baby-selling scheme that will impact the lives of many people. Catherine’s faith is sorely tested. Will she find her baby? Alive?

My Review on Amazon

After a successful career in real estate, N. E. Brown retired and began pursuing her passion for writing. Being a native Texan, Ms. Brown’s love of Texas history inspires her to create true-to-life fictional characters from the past.
She has written and published seven novels.

Betrayal, injustice and revenge echo down the years…

1940. Olive marries farmer Bill Falla. The Germans occupy Guernsey.
All too soon Olive realises she has made a mistake.
Her life changes when she meets Wolfgang, a German officer-
but there’s a price to pay. . .

2010. Natalie Ogier returns to Guernsey to escape an abusive relationship – only to be plagued by odd happenings in her beautiful cottage on the site of a derelict and secluded farm. Disturbing dreams, disembodied voices and uncanny visions from the past. She becomes increasingly ill at ease as someone else’s past catches up with her own…
Her only immediate neighbour, Stuart, is the grandson of the original owners, Bill and Olive.

Thrown together in a bid to find out what actually happened to Olive, can they each survive the repercussions of the past and move on?
